Hi Erin, tell us a bit about your background and what led you to where you are today.

The catalyst for my move to Los Angeles was love. Leaving my cherished New York City, where I had lived for over twelve years, was a significant decision, but one I made willingly to be with the man I am deeply in love with. His company's relocation to Los Angeles presented an opportunity for me to embrace a new city and a different way of living, an invitation I gladly accepted.

2. What does your city or community mean to you, both personally and professionally?

Moving to Los Angeles has felt like a personal and professional rebirth. The contrast with New York was immediate and profound, particularly in the access to nature. I was astounded by the hiking opportunities, the beauty of the beaches, and the grandeur of the mountains and deserts that California offered. Los Angeles has gently guided me towards a slower pace of life, encouraging me to shed the uptightness and critical nature I had developed in New York. Becoming an Angeleno has been a journey of rediscovering my priorities. The days of rushing through life in suits and heels, focused solely on the next deal, have given way to a broader understanding. While work still holds importance, Los Angeles has taught me the vital lesson of self-awareness, the recognition that life is short and that there is profound value in appreciating the simple beauty around us, like truly stopping to appreciate the scent of roses.

3. Can you describe a moment in your journey when you felt truly tested and how you handled it?

Opening a sister brokerage in Los Angeles for my real estate company that I worked for proved to be a significant test. I soon discovered a key difference from New York: while NYC prioritizes transaction volume, Los Angeles revolves around names, connections, and reputation. The strong presence of Hollywood necessitates that professionals learn effective self-marketing strategies to gain recognition and earn respect.

4. Tell us about the kind of impact you hope your work has on others.

Running my own real estate brokerage allowed me to directly impact people's lives by prioritizing their needs. I took pride in showing that our boutique structure fostered, rather than hindered, exceptional customer service. This same desire to make a positive impact now drives my work with Every Media Productions on the “Real Heroes" project. I believe this initiative will resonate within the close-knit fabric of Los Angeles. Often, the narrative of this city centers on athletes, Hollywood stars, and sports icons. “Real Heroes," however, aims to shift that focus, highlighting the everyday individuals whose dedication and contributions are the true foundation of society.

5. What’s on the horizon for you?

On the horizon, I see the exciting prospect of finally applying my film degree, a long-held accomplishment from my time in New York City. The difficult job market in the NYC film industry following my graduation shortly after 9/11 led me down a different path in real estate, a way to stay connected to the city. Now, with the opportunity to reignite my creativity and help share the inspiring narratives of Los Angeles' “Real Heroes," I anticipate a truly bright future.
